Why I Dumped PDP For APC- Ex-Osun Speaker, Adejare Bello

The former Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adejare Bello said he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) because the leadership of the party had been hijacked by disgruntled elements.

Bello described his defection as imperative having realized that the person that has over 75 percent control of PDP in the state was not a card-carrying member of the party.

The erstwhile Osun Speaker made the disclosure while addressing loyalists of the All Progressives Congress in Iwo during the Governorship Mega Campaign of the party.

Bello, a two-term Speaker of the State House of Assembly under the umbrella of PDP lamented over the calibre of people that had taken over the leadership of the party in recent times.

He said PDP had decimated its position as the best alternative and formidable opposition in the state, a flaw which according to him has destroyed the party’s structure from state to ward levels.

Bello said his defection had caused a serious challenge and backdrop to his former party as thousands of his loyalists across the state had packed their luggages alongside with him to APC.

The former Speaker called on the people of Osun to support APC and its governorship candidate, describing PDP as a deceitful  party that has nothing good for the people of the country.

According to him, “I took my time before taking the decision to dump PDP for APC having realized that the leadership of the party had been badly hijacked by disgruntled elements.

“It is unfortunate that a person that has over 75% control of PDP wasn’t a card-carrying member of the party.

“I wonder how someone who is not a card-carrying member of the party will be allowed to take charge over the affair of the party where we have genuine card-carrying members.

“Though I will not mention names but if one looks at the party, one will see that PDP’s structure in Osun has been hijacked by those who are neither card-carrying members nor supporters of the party.

“As a man of dignity, my defection is not by accident but a well-thought out decision to join the train of the progressives and be part of the developmental strides of the Aregbesola’s administration.

“I’m happy to join APC because this is the party that means well for the people of Osun and Nigeria. So, I am appealing to the people of Osun particularly my supporters to extend their supports to my new party in our collective effort to ensure victory for the APC’s candidate”, Bello stressed.

The candidate of the APC, Gboyega Oyetola, while speaking assured the entire state of his preparedness to sustain the progress achieved under the Aregbesola administration.

“As we have all seen what we have done with our first eight years, the next dispensation shall be much more rewarding.”

Governor Rauf Aregbesola who spoke on the defection of his former Secretary to the State Government Moshood Adeoti said it was clear that the ADP candidate has another agenda that was different from that of the APC from the start.

Aregbesola said Adeoti’s Defection would have no effect on the party saying that the performance of the APc Government In 8 years  has convinced the entire state that there is nothing better than to continue with the present trend of development.
