Atiku’s Exit Not Threat To Buhari’s Job – Minister
The Minister of Communications, Barrister AbdulRaheem Adebayo Shittu yesterday, said that the exit of former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku, will not affect the chances of President Muhammadu Buhari to retain his top job during the 2019 presidential election.
The minister said this at the inauguration ceremony of Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT), Moniya branch, Ibadan, noting that APC was not happy with the exit.
According to him, as a politician, the former number two citizen of the country has the right to associate with any political party.
The minister pointed out that no reasonable man or politician would like to be associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying “a man of integrity and discipline will not want to be back in that party.
“This is a political party that has frustrated Nigerians. Used Boko Haram to destroy the country and looted the treasury that has affected the country’s economy,” Shittu said.
While wishing Atiku best of luck, the minister said it was unfortunate that he (Atiku) was going back to impurities associated with the PDP.
He said that the ruling party was trying to meet the yearnings of the people, adding that Nigerians are with President Buhari.
He tasked religious leaders to always pray for those in positions of authority, especially the president, saying “since the leadership has the responsibility of making life meaningful for the people, so also the followership has a moral responsibility to pray for their leaders.
“Praying for God to give the president more knowledge and wisdom to govern the country will lead to peace and stability of the country,” he added.
He explained that with their prayers, the leaders would be able to succeed and eradicate all forms of ills, including corruption from the society.
The minister tasked religious leaders to make education of their followers a priority.
