Atiku Storms South West, Solicits For Votes

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on Thursday urged the people of the South West to vote for him and the party.

The PDP presidential who stormed Ibadan, the political headquarters of the South West for the zonal presidential campaign rally with party leaders, said the zone would begin to make history with effect from next month with prosperity.

He noted that since 1999 with the inception of democracy, the prosperity and peace in the zone was under the PDP, adding that the educational advancement in the zone was under the party.

However, he said in 2015, some people came “to deceive us and we gave them the opportunity. They promised to create jobs but we have lost 12 million jobs.

“Since they came to power, the country has lost prosperity and it has become the Headquarters of poverty in the world”, he said.

According to him, if elected president in 2019, “I promise that we shall return your prosperity. Everybody knows that if given the opportunity, I will assemble the best hands so that we return the country to prosperity, South West with educational stride, we shall continue to invest in education.”

Atiku who disclosed that one of his policies was the sharing formula of the country’s resources, said that within six months in office, the country would be restructured.

“I am not a stranger in Yoruba land neither I am a stranger in South West. Return PDP to power in the next election. If you give me your support, I will not disappoint the people of the zone”, he added.

While calling on the people to get their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), Atiku said Buhari Must Go”.

Also speaking, Atiku’s running mate, Peter Obi noted that President Muhammadu Buhari did not go to school and have no certificate urged the people of the zone to cast their votes for Abubakar Atiku and PDP in February presidential election.

The PDP national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus called on the people of the zone to reject President Muhammadu Buhari and APC at the poll.

He said they should all troop out and cast their votes for the PDP and its presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku, saying “you should vote, protect your votes and you must not allow INEC and security agencies to manipulate your votes”.

While noting that APC came in 2015 with poverty and hunger, Secondus lamented that it was unfortunate that President Buhari was not aware there was hunger and poverty in the land.

“Buhari who is not aware of hunger and poverty in the land, he is not even aware of killings in any part of the country.

The PDP chairman who described APC as the most corrupt party in the history of the country, demanded for the whereabouts of $25 million and $8 million which allegedly disappeared from government coffers.

He described Atiku as a man who meant well for Nigeria, trusted and tested, “who if elected in 2019, will rescue Nigeria from hunger, poverty and insecurity”.
