Arsenal Supporters To Unveil Saraki, Kanu, Others At Abuja Event
Arsenal supporters across Nigeria will converge on Abuja on October 17 for a programme combining football, community service and efforts to strengthen the club’s grassroots presence.
The two-day programme organised by Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria will feature the club’s official unveiling, its second Annual General Meeting, a market sanitation campaign and recreational football activities.
The National President, Charles Ojugbana, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, said the programme would bring together members from different states and city chapters.
Ojugbana said the move was to strengthen the association and promote support for Arsenal Football Club in Nigeria.
According to him, activities will begin on Friday with an AGM, providing members an opportunity to review the club’s affairs and discuss plans.
“Saturday’s activities will include aerobics, a novelty football match and a sanitation campaign at Wuse Market, Abuja.
“As part of its community service initiative, the club will donate industrial refuse bins and other sanitation materials to the market union to promote environmental cleanliness,” he said.
Ojugbana said the outreach reflected the club’s charitable objectives, particularly its commitment to supporting vulnerable, less-privileged and disadvantaged members of society.
He said the club also drew inspiration from Nigerian players who had represented Arsenal, including former Super Eagles forward Nwankwo Kanu and current players Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze.
According to him, the organisation aims to improve the experience of Arsenal supporters and expand the club’s followership across Nigeria.
“The unveiling is expected to attract prominent Arsenal supporters, including former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Sen. Dino Melaye and Kanu, alongside business leaders and other celebrities.”
The national president said that Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria operated through a Board of Trustees, a National Executive Committee and a General Assembly, which served as its highest decision-making body.
Beyond football and environmental sanitation, he said they would organise an awareness campaign for children with Down syndrome in March 2027 to coincide with World Down Syndrome Day.
He said the Abuja programme is expected to provide an opportunity for members to strengthen their relationships, promote charitable initiatives and broaden the association’s reach across Nigeria.
