Armed Robbers Raid Banks, killed Policemen At Iwo

No fewer than four policemen were feared killed Tuesday when heavily armed robbers attacked three banks in the ancient town of Iwo, Osun State.

The three banks that were located a stone throw to the gate of Bowen university were invaded by scores of armed robbers and carted away yet to be quantified amount of money from the banks.

The 50 minutes robbery according to source started around 3:40pm with structure of the bank destroyed with explosives while trying to get access to the entrance.

One of the bandits was also gunned down by policemen while two civilian and a staff of one of the bank were injured in the gun battle.

The affected Banks are one old generation bank and two new generation bank.

An eye witness said the robbers came in four vehicles.

Prior to the operation,  It was learnt that the bandits had stopped over at Iwo Divisional Police Station and destroyed the Armour tank stationed there.
