Appeal Court Ruling Blown Out of Proportion- Akeredolu
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has said the ruling of the Appeal Court on his candidature in the last governorship election on Monday, was unnecessarily blown out of proportion .
Akeredolu, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Segun Ajiboye on Tuesday in Akure, the state capital, wondered why a simple ruling will be twisted and misrepresented to the people.
The governor said, what the Appeal Court ruled on was whether the service of the Originating Process on the APC secretariat in Abuja, instead of himself was right or not.
The governor who said that the substantive case is yet to commence, noted that what the Appeal Court held was that the service was proper.
His words: “You’ll recall that Segun Abraham went to court to restrain INEC from recognizing Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, as the governorship candidate of APC.
“Governor Akeredolu had appealed the ruling of Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court Abuja, who ruled that an application for interim injunction sought by Abraham be heard.
“For the governor, as a senior lawyer who is convinced that a case can only be founded on proper service of the Originating Processes, has directed that the ruling be appealed in the overall interest of the development of the law.”
Akeredolu however, appealed to his supporters and the people of the state to remain calm and continue with their legitimate businesses as he continues with the task of developing the state.
