APC Will Sweep 2019 Polls – Tinubu

The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that the party will simply sweep the polls in 2019 general elections since it has no strong opposition in the country.

The former Lagos State governor, while speaking at the public reception in honour of some politicians who decamped to the party in Ibadan, Oyo State, said that the APC was the only progressive party in Nigeria and Africa.

He said what is important was that the party would win the 2019 general election.

“What is important here today is that we, the APC government, will win the forthcoming election as most of the people will vote for the party,” he said.

Tinubu specifically declared that there was no opposition in Oyo State, as the governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi had broken the jinx of second term.

He commended the governor for building the party and urged those that decamped to the party to join hands in ensuring the success of the party.

Those who decamped to the APC in the state are former governor, Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala; former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, former deputy governor; Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Hon. Dokun Odebunmi, serving member House of Representatives and former General Manager, OYSTROMA, Eng. Rauf Olaniyan.

Others are former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Ayodele Adigun:  Hon (Mrs) Olanrewaju Otiti, former PDP senatorial candidate, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape, former Speaker, Oyo House of Assembly and Chief Yinka Taiwo, former PDP state chairman. Also, members of the state House of Assembly decamped to the APC.

Speaking, Governor Abiola Ajimobi who described the event as first of its kind in the political history of the state told those that decamped that they would not regret joining the progressive party.

He also declared that all opposition political parties in the state were dead and moribund.

“There is only one political party in the state, Others are moribund,” he declared.

The governor disclosed that the local government election would hold in March and urged those who decamped to love themselves and work for the success of the party.

Both the Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and his Osun State counterpart, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola while welcoming the new members, noted that there was no opposition in Oyo State.

Aregbesola on his part, said that the political heavy weights that decamped had left parties of looters and thieves, saying that APC was the only party to beat.

Others who spoke, including Alao-Akala, Teslim.Folarin, Alarape, Odebunmi commended the leadership qualities of Tinubu and Ajimobi.

Alao-Akala formally declared that the PDP was dead in the state, saying “There is no problem in Oyo in 2019”.

While noting that Ajimobi gave them the opportunity to join the APC, he said “we are going to be loyal and supportive to ensure the success of the party.”
