APC Sweeps LG Polls In Osun
Osun State Independent Electoral Commission on Sunday declared all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who contested at the parliamentary local government election held in Osun state last Saturday elected.
Announcing the result of the election on Sunday, the Chairman, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, (OSIEC), Otunba Segun Oladitan, declared that the 318 candidates of All Progressives Congress, APC, were returned unopposed.
He said the elections were held in 71 wards of the state out of 389 wards, noting that it was exactly 10years and 43 days that the last local government election was held in the state.
Oladitan who said all votes were counted at the polling units, maintained that the commission has conducted the election in a fair and acceptable manner.
The OSIEC Chairman thereafter distributed certificate of return to all the 389 councilors who will later elect chairmen among themselves.
Six political parties participated in the election while others either withdrawn or refused to participate in the election.
