The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, on Wednesday visited his colleague Deputy Governor in Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, for a preliminary strategic meeting on resolving the boundary dispute between both states and to the satisfaction of the communities involved.
Madumere said this while responding to enquiries from Anambra State Government House newsmen on the purpose of his visit to Awka.
This was shortly after meeting behind closed doors with Okeke in Anambra State Government House, Awka, Anambra State.
His words: “I am in Anambra State Government House to meet with my brother and friend, the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, for us to discuss on the best approach to manage our people of the communities located at the boundary areas where we have little challenges.
“We are sister states and we cannot afford not to find a way around whatever challenges we have.”
Madumere also revealed that two states would be having a larger meeting on Friday where communities concerned and other stakeholders would be brought together.
He said the move is a proactive measure they have taken to forestall any backlash that could bring about regrets.
Some of the major areas concerned are around Akokwa-Aroundi-Izuogu-Uga axis and Oguta-Uli axis, all at the boundaries between Anambra and Imo States.
