Al-Qaeda plans to attack US ahead of presidential poll – Report

Intelligence officials are investigating potential terrorist threats ahead of the US election, the country’s media reported on Friday.
“Al-Qaeda could be planning attacks on Monday in the states of New York, Texas and Virginia,” unnamed sources said without providing further details.
The FBI said in a statement that counterterrorism and intelligence officials “remain vigilant and well-postured to defend against attacks here in the United States”.
The FBI and Department of Homeland Security were working with local law enforcement authorities to “identify and disrupt any potential threat to public safety”.
Report says it is not uncommon for US authorities to examine threats around major events or holidays.
