Al-makura Donates 50 Hectares Of Land For EFCC Academy
The Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura Wednesday donated 50 hectres of land to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the establishment of its Academy in the State.
The governor who announced donation while handing over the site for the academy located at Kwandere Village near Lafia to the Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu said the gesture was in response to the commission’s desire to establish it’s training academy in the state. Almakura said the donation of the land was a demonstration of the State to partner EFCC in the fight against corruption adding that apart from securing the land, his administration would also fast track all the necessary approvals for the commencement of the project.
In his response, the EFCC Chairman disclosed that plans by the commission to establish the permanent site for the EFCC academy had been on for the past two years stating that the current commission’s academy located at Karu was grossly inadequate, hence the need to for a permanent site to accommodate the necessary facilities.
Magu lauded the governor and the people of Nasarawa state for the gesture and assured that work on a befitting permanent site for training Academy would soon commence.
According to the EFCC Boss, ‘with the donation of land, the state government had shown commitment to the fight against corruption”. “I always say that in the fight against corruption, we have to join hands together, together we can kill corruption,” Magu declared.
He call on Nigerians to support the fight against corruption saying that the fight required collective responsibility of all Nigerians.
