Akeredolu Swears -In 18 Caretaker Chairmen In Ondo
Following last Friday court judgment which nullified the April 23, 2016 local government elections in Ondo State, the governor of the state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has sworn-in caretaker chairmen for the 18 local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony held yesterday at the International Dome Centre, Akure, the state capital, Akeredolu, tasked the council chairmen to intensifys effort to generate revenue for the government to complement the allocation from the federation account saying it would also enable them to implement developmental projects.
Represented by his deputy, Hon. Agboola Ajayi , Akeredolu noted that they are coming on board at a time the state and the local governments are faced with plummeting financial resources on account of the falling prices of oil globally.
Akeredolu said, “As you are all aware, the local government is the pivot of socio-economic planning and development in its area of authority.
” Being also the tier of government closest to the people, it is a veritable facilitator of economic and social development at the grassroots and an indispensable adjunct of the state government in meeting the yearnings of the populace.
“It therefore plays a vital role in pragmatic governance thus forgoing a sense of belonging in the populace. I must not therefore, fail to mention that this government his zero tolerance for corruption.
“We shall ensure a proper monitoring mechanism to ensure that wastages are avoided and every dime spent is accounted for”
While charging the council chairmen to immediately key into the five cardinal programmes of his administration, Akeredolu urged them to implement policies that will impact positively on the lives of the masses .
Akeredolu who promised massive construction of primary school buildings in all local governments, said he had embarked on roads construction in some parts of the local councils in the states.
The new council chairmen are Aworetan Fayowole for (Ilaje), Odimayo Gbadebo (Irele) Mrs. Morenike Alaska (Okitipupa), George Adenikinju (Odigbo), Temidayo Akinsuroju (Odigbo), Rafiu Akinkuolie (Ondo East), Ebenezer Akinsulie (Ondo West), Biyi Ayinnuola (Idanre), and Mrs. Margret Atere (Akure South).
Others are Segun Oluyede (Akure North), Dipo Ajibola (Ifedore), Gani Omoluka (Owo), Agboola Ajike (Ose), Adeyemi Akinniyi (Akoko South East), Augustine Oloruntoge (Akoko South West), Rafiu Eniayewu (Akoko North East), Moradeyo Ajayi (Akoko North West) Local Government Areas.
