Adopt Whistle Blowing Strategy To Tackle Child Trafficking – NAPTIP DG
Nigerians have been charged to extend the whistle blowing strategy that is currently yielding fruitful dividends in tackling corruption in the country to fight against child trafficking.
The Director General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person, Julie Okah-Donli made the call while speaking with newsmen shortly after inspecting the facilities at the Osogbo command of the agency.
According to her, the strategy becomes necessary to expose the activities of human traffickers since they are not spirit adding that they live among the people.
Okah-Donli noted that the traffickers often pose as helpers of destinies but behind those offers are hidden wickedness and intention of enslavement and exploitation.
The NAPTIP boss expressed the paramilitary agency’s renewed commitment to ensure that the trafficking in persons prohibition enforcement and Administration Act 2015 is implemented to the later.
“Human trafficking which is modern day slavery must be cut off from Nigeria and we can only succeed in this when every member of the community watches the back of the other”
While assuring whistle blower of adequate security and protection of identity, she advised communities to form watch groups in their localities and ensure that every identified traffickers becomes an enemy to all and report them to the agency for investigation and proper prosecution.

She disclosed that the Osogbo office of the command will oversee the entire Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states when fully operational adding that the office will definitely reduce a lot of pressure from the Lagos Zonal Command and ensure quick response to complaints.
