Adeleke’s Death: Efforts To Get Autopsy Report Abortive-Family
The family of late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Wednesday lamented their inability to obtain the report of the autopsy conducted on the deceased senator at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
Flanked by the late Senator’s siblings and family members at a press conference in Ede, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke therefore disclosed the preparedness of the family to drag the medical practitioners involved to court over unprofessional conduct.
The family expressed disappointment that despite the claim by the Chief Medical Director of the institution, Prof. Akeem Lasisi that the autopsy was ready, the family who ordered it was denied access to it.
Dr. Adeleke who emphasized that the family does not intend to fight anyone over the passage of the deceased insisted that the desire to know the cause of the sudden death of their son informed the ordering of the autopsy.
He wondered why the report was not released to the family when the CMD, Prof. Lasisi told the family that the report was already with the Osun State Police Command.
The Adeleke family concluded that based on the high level of unprofessional conduct already displayed by the CMD who had claimed before the Coroner Inquest set up by the state government that the cause of Adeleke’s death was as a result of banned injection overdose, the integrity of the yet to be released autopsy must have been seriously compromised.
Meanwhile, the pathologist that carried out the autopsy, Dr Solaja Olufemi said that there were no traces of poison or heavy metal in the examined body of the deceased.
Solaja who appeared before the coroner inquest set up by the state government yesterday stated that the police carried out the toxicology examination on the deceased and the result was given to him to read on May 15, 2017.
Olufemi, who is the Consultant, Anatomic Pathologist at the LAUTECH hospital, said the pathological examination carried out on Adeleke’s corpse revealed that the deceased consumed excessive alcohol and was given an over doze of sedative and analgesic medicines.
