Adamawa College Gets New Provost 

 

President Muhammadu Buhari, has approved the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Degereji as the new Provost of the Federal College of Education, Yola, Adamawa State.

The college officially announced the appointment in a statement signed by its Principal Information Officer, Bashiru Abdullahi, and made available to newsmen in Yola on Monday.

The statement disclosed that the appointment of Dr. Degereji was for a period of four years.

The institution has been under the administration of an acting Provost, Prof. Johnson Malgwa, who is expected to give way to the newly appointed provost.

It noted that prior to his appointment, Dr. Degereji had diligently served the institution in key strategic leadership positions which included being an acting Deputy Provost, Dean of School of Science Education, Director, and Head of Department.

Dr. Degereji, prior to this appointment was a Chief Lecturer at the department of physics of the institution, serving as Coordinator of the World Bank/Adamawa State Assisted Programme for the provision of education for the out-of-school children under the auspices of better education service delivery for all.

He also served as the pioneer Director of the College Centre of Excellence as well as the Science Research Centre of the institution, where he displayed excellent leadership qualities which made his selection for the current position tenable.

The biodata of the latest Provost of the FCE showed he obtained his Bachelor of Science (Physics) degree from the University of Maiduguri and Masters degree in Engineering in Electrical Power System from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

The new Provost holds a Doctorate from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom with a specialisation in Energy Physics.

Dr. Degereji is a member of several national and international professional bodies.
