ACF mourns Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki

The Arewa Consultative Forum has commiserated with the Government and people of Sokoto State over the death of Ibrahim Dasuki, the 18th Sultan of Sokoto.
The late Sultan Dasuki passed away on Monday in Abuja.
The National Publicity of the ACF, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, in a statement on Tuesday in Kaduna also commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased.
The forum prayed Allah (SWT) to grant him eternal peace in Aljannah Firdaus.
The ACF described the late Sultan Dasuki as a seasoned administrator, who started his civil service career at the Native Authority level in Sokoto to the regional government of the North.
He was, at different times, Chairman, Northern Nigerian Marketing Board; Chairman of the Committee on Local Government Reforms of 1976 and Chairman, Nigerian Railway Corporation, among others.
Dasuki, 93, was appointed the 18th Sultan of Sokoto in November 1988 after the death of Sultan Abubakar Saddique lll, but was deposed in 1996.
After he was deposed, the late Sultan Dasuki maintained his peaceful posture and humility and continued to offer good counselling on how to move Nigeria forward.
According to the ACF, during his tenure as the 18th Sultan of Sokoto, the late Dasuki devoted his time and resources to uplift the Caliphate to an enviable position.
The ACF said: “Dasuki also modernised traditional royalty, brought in elegance and promoted the Sokoto Caliphate’s revered status to the admiration of Nigerians and the international community.”
The ACF said that the late sultan would be remembered for his immense contributions to the Sokoto Caliphate, the North and Nigeria in all areas of development.
ACF SAID: “His resourcefulness, wise counselling and love for peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians irrespective of tribe and religion were unparalleled.
“The North and indeed Nigeria has lost a royal father and counselor.”
