By Olu Osikoya, Abeokuta

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has restated his administration’s commitment to providing a viable economy for the people, irrespective of their gender, status, location and religious affiliation.

The Governor said this during the installation and turbaning of the 11th Chief Imam of Ijebuland, Alhaji Muftahudeen Ayanbadejo, at Ijebu Ode, assuring that the people of the State would always have a place in its building together agenda.

“Let me observe that, all along with the history of Islam, leadership has always been an important concept, the fact is that only God chooses who he wills as leader and the quality of the leader will determine the developmental stride of the community at any time”, he said.

Prince Abiodun commended the Ijebu Muslim community for successfully installing Alhaji Ayanbadejo as their next Chief Imam, advising him to improve on his leadership qualities and see his elevation as a higher call to serve God and humanity.

The helmsman acknowledged the support of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland in the selection of the new chief Imam, saying, ‘’Kabiyesi’s rare leadership quality has not only endeared him to his people but has also ensured social-economic development of Ijebuland”, he said.

“We also appreciate the fact that with the right leadership and the fear of God in our community leaders, they will readily lead the people to perform their civic responsibilities and make a positive impact in the development of the State. Islam is a religion of peace, which particularly preaches the utmost responsibility of both the leaders and the followers towards peaceful co-existence”, he said.

The ceremony also featured the installation and turbaning of Alhaji Nurain Eyinfunjowo, as the Noibul Imam of Ijebuland and Imam Abdul-Wahab Adeniyi Oleolo as the Eketa Adinni of Ijebuland
