Kaduna Emerges Best State In Primary Healthcare Delivery, Wins $500,000
Kaduna State has been recognised as the best-performing state in primary healthcare delivery in the North West, highlighting Governor Uba Sani’s strong commitment to transforming the health sector.
According to a statement on Saturday by Malam Ibraheem Musa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, the state’s healthcare system is structured to deliver its mandate through three zonal offices, 23 local government health authority offices, and 1,068 primary healthcare facilities.
The Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, along with the Commissioner of Health and the Executive Secretary of the Primary Health Care Board, attended the gala night hosted at the Banquet Hall in Aso Villa, Abuja, where the award was presented.
Balarabe, while receiving the award on behalf of the state government, said the recognition was a testament to the governor’s exceptional investments and leadership in healthcare.
“For Kaduna State, the award represents more than just financial recognition. It stands as a testament to the state’s dedicated health team and their tireless efforts to enhance healthcare services for residents,” she said.
The PHC Leadership Challenge, which conferred the award, acknowledged Kaduna State’s significant investments and strategic approach to improving public health infrastructure and service delivery.
According to Balarabe, the $500,000 cash prize will further support Kaduna State’s ongoing healthcare initiatives and strengthen primary healthcare delivery.
The award was presented by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.
