Catholic Priest Wants Nigerians To Renew Vows To God
Rev. Fr. George Shenge, Parish Priest of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ombi 1, Lafia in Nasarawa State, has called on Nigerians to renew their vows to God and do good things that would promote peaceful coexistence.
The Clergy made the call in a Homily on Sunday.
“The vows made to God to adhere to our religious upbringing is giving way to contrary tendencies.
“Every Nigerian, irrespective of his or her religion, should turn to God in truth and spirit in the face of our economic, social and security challenges. He has the solution for every challenge.
“If leaders and followers do things that please God, the situation of the country will changed for good.
“God is the only solution to the country’s problems. It is not by magic. People should just decide to do the right things at all times,” he said.
The Reverend Father urged Nigerians to trust God as capable of turning things around for good.
“The challenges are everywhere – office, school, business or relationships – but people should never give up. God can still help them.
“Is it admission that you are looking for, for years? Is it a job you are seeking or even business that is not doing well? Just trust in God and see his wonders in your life.”
He reminded Christians that the Bible is categorical about the fact that sin against persons would be forgiven, but sin against the Holy Spirit would not be forgiven.
He advised Christians to desist from making blasphemous statements such as “my situation is too bad as such I will not pray again”.
“If we make such careless statements, God will be angry with us,” he said.
He said that humanity was experiencing the greatest existential challenges due to harsh economic and social conditions.
“But life is like a book with many pages and chapters, therefore, people should never give up on God because the Holy Spirit has the capacity to renew every situation,” he said.
