Seek Knowledge For Liberation, Banire Urges Muslims
Legal luminary, Muiz Banire, Saturday, encouraged Muslim faithful to get committed in seeking knowledge, saying it is the light and liberation from ignorance.
Banire, who chaired the first International symposium organised by the Lagos Academy for Training and Research, otherwise known as MAJMA’ LAGOS, with the theme, ‘Emerging Concerns over Arabic Language, Economic Development and Islamic Jurisprudence,’ challenged the Muslims to embrace the learning of the Arabic language, adding that, it is the only way they can clearly understand the religion and make them a practicing Muslims.
“It is to ensure that we are liberated from the ignorance and prevented from being easily persuaded by the other faiths,” he said.
Banire believed that the understanding of Arabic would help Muslims to do more, understand and embrace the tenets of Islam.
Meanwhile, the academy will graduate its pioneer set in Lagos today after 14 years of its establishment as an empowerment-focussed training outfit committed to professional training on Arabic-English-Arabic translation and interpretation.
Founded in 2008 as a training and research institute for Western and Arabic education and sciences, MAJMA’ LAGOS has demonstrated its bold commitment towards giving best Islamic teaching with collaboration with the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), based in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
In 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was reached between the academy and the AArU under the leadership of its Secretary-General, Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, offering an opportunity to allow the academy’s students of Arabic to receive both Shari’ah and Arabic training from the Faculty of Maliki Jurisprudence, the World Islamic Science University (WISU), Amman.
On their arrival from Egypt to Nigeria over the weekend, the Secretary General and other delegates were elated for finally being in the country they have always wanted to visit for a long time.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Prof. Salama expressed the commitment of the association to deepen the relationship with the academy in Nigeria towards achieving best Islamic instructional practice.
“This is my first time of being here and I am happy to be here because this is will further deepen our relationship in the areas of Arabic learning. One of our objectives is to raise the decline in Arabic learning and Islamic religion,” he said.
