NPC Set To Conduct Digitalised Census – Commissioner
National Population Commission NPC has disclosed its commitment to conduct the first digitalized census in Nigeria come 2023, the first of its kind in Africa.
The Federal Commissioner, representing Adamawa State in the board of the Commission who lead NPC team on inspection to the Institute of Technology, RLG/Adulawo, Ilesa, Osun State on Thursday, Dr. Clifford Zirra who disclosed this insisted that the commission was set to conduct a census that would be acceptable and of great standard.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after conducting a facility tour of the institute in preparation for partnership in the provision of facilities for the success of the census, Zirra said the commission sent a high powered delegation comprising Federal Commissioners, the Director General and the management staff to the institute to make sure that no stone was left unturned.
While expressing satisfaction with the facilities on ground, the Commissioner noted that because the commission has a lot to do in terms of mobilisation, manpower and logistics to do the census, it becomes imperative to ensure that all hands are on deck to ensure the success of the exercise.
His words: “We are discussing and by the time we reach the bridge, we will cross it over. We have started discussion and we pray we get it on time. I am sure that they have not disappointed us. We have a timeline and we have to ensure that we will meet that timeline of deadline”.
Speaking, the General Manager, RLG, Ilesa, Mr. Tosin Ilesanmi who disclosed that the institute was set up to do local content with ISI and SON certified, their products are of high quality, durable and of world standard.
He added that the institute met such capacity when they were dealing with the Federal Government when the digital switch over was done, the handling of N-Power project, saying “we have worked for Airtel, GLO. We are also currently working with StarTimes and we have delivered quality”.
“We will be able to meet up with the standards of the National Population Commission within the time frame. We have 2 straight lines and 2 automated lines, that will make production more faster and of good quality.
“We are currently doing 30,000 devices per month for StarTimes with a single line. Knowing that this is a national assignment which we have to deliver, we can assure that we will meet them where they want to be met” Ilesanmi concluded.
