Police Kill Terrorist, Arrest Informant In Katsina
A terrorist was killed on Sunday morning at Unguwar Maizuma village in the Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State.
A man alleged to be an informant to terrorists was also arrested in the village.
The police reportedly invaded a dark spot believed to be a terrorists’ hideout in the village in the morning following an intelligence report, leading to the death of the terrorist and the arrest of the informant.
The spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the development and provided further information: “On 20 August, 2022, at about 7:30am, acting on credible intelligence that terrorists were sighted in a black spot at Maizuma village, Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State, DPO Danja led a team of policemen to the area and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel.
“The team successfully repelled the terrorists and neutralised one of them. In the course of scanning the hideout, the following exhibits were recovered: locally fabricated gun; military camouflage uniform; machetes and dagger; 100 bottles and a gallon of spirit; some quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp (marijuana); two Boxer motorcycles; three car batteries; one sewing machine; roll of cable wire and two cooking gas cylinders.
“One suspected informant to the terrorists was also arrested. It was reasonably suspected that the ring leader of the terror group, one Sule Dawa, escaped with fatal gunshots wound.
“The command is making efforts with a view to arresting the gang leader and other members of the syndicate.”
According to command’s spokesman, the state Commissioner of Police, Idrisu Dauda, appreciated the efforts of the personnel in repelling the terrorists and directed them “to sustain the tempo until all forms of crime and criminality are dealt with.”
The police commissioner also reportedly “urged members of the public to continue to cooperate with security agencies in the ongoing campaign against terrorism in the state.”
