PDP Laments Forceful Removal Of Ebonyi Deputy Speaker
By Joyce Arohility
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Ebonyi State has lamented over the forceful removal of the State Deputy speaker, Obasi odefa, the member representing Onicha East State constituency for refusal to join the All Progressives Congress Party, APC.
Okorie, described the forceful removal of the lawmaker as unconstitutional and effort in futility.
He frowned over the actions of the State lawmakers led by the Speaker, Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, stating that it was disgraceful outing.
According  to his Statement: “The disgraceful document flying around purporting to be a resignation letter by the Honourable Deputy Speaker is nothing but an act of forgery perpetrated by no less a person than the (former) Speaker of the EBHA, Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru leading a handful of other members.
“It is a huge a shame that the leadership of the House could descend into such petty crimes and criminality to commit forgery and perjury, telling brazen lies, all in an effort to victimize the Deputy Speaker for daring the demigod of Ebonyi Government House by reaffirming his membership of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)”
Okorie, maintained that the purported removal or declaring the seat of the Deputy speaker to be vacant, is unconstitutional
“There was no proper seating, there was no impeachment’.
He said the party would explore all legal avenues towards restoring the confidence of the people in the State.
Meanwhile, the Deputy speaker, Obasi odefa, has denied tendering resignation letter to the State House of Assembly and said the document was forged.
He  reaffirmed his membership of the PDP and said he had no reason to leave the party, he is still the Deputy speaker of the  State House.” Odefa said.
