EKSG Encourages Health And Frontline Workers To Take COVID 19 Vaccine
The Ekiti State government has encouraged health workers and other  frontline workers in the state to come out and receive COVID-19 vaccines.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr Oyebanji Filani stated at the report briefing, that priority has been given to health workers and other frontline workers such as security agents, civil servants, petrol attendants, bank officials, commercial drivers to be vaccinated at the first phase of the exercise. The reason for this being that they are at high risk of contracting the virus as a result of the large numbers of people they interact with on daily basis.
The commissioner assured the residents of the efficacy and effectiveness of the vaccines noting that the vaccines have been proven to be safe and of no negative impacts.
“I will like to urge our people to ignore the conspiracy theories and their promoters. It has been proven that their is no iota of truth in the misgivings as they are not premised on any fact known to medical sciences and globally established protocols. “
He noted that the vaccines have been stress tested with clinical trials conducted to guarantee its safety for human consumption stressing that  NAFDAC has also subjected the vaccines to multiple tests, analysis and affirmed that they are not injurious in any form to the people.
 “We should not introduce unnecessary sentiments to the health and wellbeing of our people for whatever reasons. It’s incumbent on us all to jointly take responsibility and fight the common enemy that Covid-19 has turned out to be”. He emphasized.
The health boss called on the health workers to take responsibility and lead by example by receiving the vaccines in the public as well as encourage others to do same.
