Lagos Records Three Coronavirus Deaths

Lagos State has recorded three coronavirus fatalities, the state health commissioner said.

Akin Abayomi, the state’s health commissioner, announced the “unfortunate” deaths on Thursday afternoon.

“Unfortunately, Lagos recorded 3 additional deaths from #COVID19 related complications. The deceased are males aged 51, 52 and 62,” Abayomi tweeted.

He said one of the deceased was a medical doctor who had contact with an infected person who recently returned to the country, while the two other persons “have no travel history or record of contact with any infected person.”

The new deaths totalled the number of fatalities in the state to 10.

The commissioner also said 16 coronavirus patients have fully recovered and have been discharged following “further screening that confirmed their status negative.”

“Total number of discharged #COVID19 patients in Lagos are now 85,” Abayomi said.

Lagos has so far recorded 235 out of Nigeria’s 407 cases. Efforts have been intensified to test more people in the state while the state is on lockdown till April 28 as announced by President Muhammadu Buahri.
