Ogun TRACE To Reduce Road Crashes By 15% Next Year
Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps(TRACE) will reinvegorate its working plan at injecting order and control mechanisms into the road traffic system within the State through global best practices.The Step will be targeted at ensuring efficiency in road traffic services delivery, thereby reducing road crash rate by 15% in the year 2020.
The Corps Commandant TRACE, Seni Ogunyemi stated this when he took his turn to defend his 2020 agency’s budget estimate for before the lawmakers at the on going budget defence held in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Ogunyemi, who proposed a total budget size of N1.136Bn said the corps would step up plans towards enhancing good conduct in road traffic management, while promoting the safety of all road users through organized public education, enlightenment programme, compliance and enforcement in the next fiscal year.
Giving the breakdown of the agency’s budget, the Commandant said N154.04m would cater for various capital projects and N982.4m for salaries and allowances, while N250m was being expected as revenue next year.
Meanwhile, the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has assured that the State would retain its enviable position on the world map as it is set to give a befitting facelift to all existing tourist sites in the State, while discovering and developing new ones.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Selimat Otun, said this while she took turn to defend her Ministry’s budget estimate, emphasizing the need for effective tourism management which was capable of increasing the internal generated revenue and providing more jobs opportunities for the teeming populace.
Therefore, she proposed a budget of N1.691Bn for the ministry with N1.144bn earmarked for capital projects and the remaining N547.7m proposed for recurrent expenditure, while N10m was set as revenue target.
