Ogun Govt Spends N9bn On Road Construction In Three Months

As part of its resolve to sustain the ongoing infrastructural development and aid the socio-economic activities in the State, Ogun State Government has spent a total of N9.348bn in the first quarter of 2019, on the construction and rehabilitation of roads across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Kayode Ademolake, revealed this while presenting the budget performance of the Ministry between January and March, before members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation, led by Hon. Victor Fasanya, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Ademolake listed the 31 roads to include; Sagamu-Benin Express Junction/Oba Erinwole Junction Road, which was at 95 percent completion, Ilo-Awela road at 75 percent, OGTV-Brewery also at 75 percent, Erinjin-Oluwalogbon at 90 percent, Ojere- Adatan road at 86 percent, Abule Ekun River bridge at 90 percent, flyover bridge at Lusada bridge junction at 60 percent, as well as pedestrian bridges at Mowe, Ibafo and Panseke at 90 percent amongst others.
He added that Moshood Abiola way, Moraimo-Olorombo road, Abiola way junction- Muda Lawal stadium, Flyover bridges at Lagos Garage, Mobalufon, Obada Market, Ijebu-Igbo, Iyana Mortuary, as well as Bridge over Yakoyo River were being completed towards reducing vehicle maintenance costs and road carnage.
Reeling out the budget performance of the Ministry in the period under review, Ademolake stated that the Ministry raked in a total revenue of N312.5m, representing 208.40 percent increment of its actual target from contractor registration fees, fire safety certificate fees, inspection fees, telecoms and Infrastructural services, as well as Vehicle inspection penal fees, adding that the construction of additional secretariat building (Block E) was ongoing within the State Secretariat.
The Permanent Secretary said the Ministry equally established a Material Testing Laboratory through Public Private Partnership agreement and constructed befitting modern markets, residential buildings and shops, in line with the urban renewal programme of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led -administration, having reallocated rooms and shops to affected traders and displaced people.
Also, the Office of the Head of Service, Bureau of State Pensions, Establishments and Training, Electrical Engineering Services (BEES) and the Civil Service Commission presented their 2019 budget performances.
Other agencies that had their budgets performance appraised were the State Ministries of Justice, Environment, the State Environment Protection Agency, (OGEPA) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) among others.
