NUJ Presidential Aspirant Flags Off Campaign September 4

(NUJ), Comrade Chris  Isiguzo will flag off his presidential campaign

on September 4.

The election has been slated to hold on September 27 where a total of

878 delegates drawn from the 36 states and FCT would converge on Ogun

state for the Triennial conference.

A statement from the Director General of  Rescue Mission Organisation,

Alhaji Ali Atabor said that the flag off will hold at the NUJ Press

Centre, Umuahia, Abia State, by 10am prompt.

He expressed his profound gratitude to well wishers, colleagues and

supporters across the country for the great show of encouragement,

prayers and solidarity during the recent and ongoing consultations to

seek their advise on the Rescue Mission Project.

According to the statement, the Presidential hopeful will use the

occasion to highlight some of his achievements as a two-time Vice

President of zone C, Southeast and also unveil his mission and

programmes for the union.

“In line with the electoral guidelines, and to the glory of God,

having successfully scaled through the screening procedures, as

undertaken by the highly respectable and professionally minded

screening team, we wish to respectfully announce the official flag off

of the presidential campaign of Comrade Chris Isiguzo”.

“The campaign flag off will take place on Tuesday September 4, 2018,

at NUJ Press Centre, Umuahia, Abia State, by 10am prompt”.

“Rescue Mission Organisation wishes to restate her unwavering

commitment to the redemption of our fledgling Union.

This it intends to do through refocusing of NUJ administration to

ensure effective leadership, to embark on review of the constitution

to make for professionalism and remove ambiguities, to enhance the

welfare of members, to reposition the International Institute of

Journalism (IIJ), to fight non payment of salaries by some media

owners, and to catalyze the establishment of stabilization fund to end

high rate of bankruptcy in the media industry with resultant loss of

thousands of jobs by colleagues”, the DG said.

He therefore call on all concerned members of NUJ to join in this

onerous mission to rescue the Union from ineptitude, lackluster

leadership, dictatorship and division crippling the various councils,

adding that NUJ must be professionally run to earn her respect

nationally and internationally with the welfare of members at the

centre state of all its programmes and activities.
