Suspected Cultists Kill Ibadan Poly Student

A National Diploma (ND) student of the Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo State, identified as Alex has been murdered by suspected cultists.

It was gathered that Alex an ND student in Urban and regional planning of the institution was allegedly killed by suspected cultists during a clash on Monday.

The tragic incident turned the Polytechnic Ibadan into a ghost town following the clash between a cult group and a group of indigenous youths under the aegis of Apete Youth Forum.

It was observed that only few students were on campus, while virtually all the lecture halls were empty.

The school security were on patrol with some staying at strategic location to prevent further breakdown of law and order.

Although some offices were opened, few members of staff were also around and none was willing to talk about the incident.

A member of the Forum who spoke under anonymity told our reporter that the cause of the killing was still a mystery to them as the victim was not a violent person.

“Alex is a humble and respectful person, he doesn’t cause trouble so what led to his killing is still like a mystery.

“He was murdered on Monday evening at Fanawole area by suspected cultists,” he said.

It was gathered that some members of the Apete Youth Forum had earlier in the morning invaded the school premises to protest the killing of one of them.
