Group Commends Ooni Over Drive For Yoruba Unity
The National President of Oodua Progressive Care Iniatives (OPCI) Otunba Maruf Olanrewaju Salam has eulogised the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi over his commitment to the unity of Yorubaland.
Salam while fielding questions from journalists at Ile-Ife during the inauguration of Osun State chapter of the organization/leadership lecture noted that he has observed the unity drive of the monarch since his installation and urged other traditional rulers in the land to support him.
Besides, the OPCI leader called on monarchs as custodians of tradition and culture and Yoruba people as a whole to guide their culture jealously else they go into extinction.
He particularly advocated teaching in mother tongue in schools at all levels just like it happened China adding that this will not only ease learning but help prevent the language from going into extinction.
As elections period approaches, Salam also appealed to Nigerian politicians to eschew violence and

play the game according to its rules saying that only those that are alive can enjoy the  dividends of democracy.
He called on the youths in Yoruba land to wake up from their political slumber and take up the challenge of leadership.
He warned external aggressors like the Boko Haram or Fulani herdsmen to steer clear of Yoruba land as the organization is set to defend its land.
Salam who disclosed that not less than thirty-five of its members has been sponsored to study courses like Management education at the American University in Benin Republic said that the organization is set to empower its members educationally, financially and logistically to success in any of their ventures.
