Sean ‘Diddy’ Changes Name For Fifth Time
The artist was formerly known as Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy and Diddy.
Now, he has changed his name for the fifth time and guess what he chose.
Brother Love.
No, this is not a drill.
He announced on Twitter: “Hey, Y’all. I have some very serious serious news. I’ve been praying on this. I decided that – I know it’s risky and I know it’s corny to some people – but I decided to change my name again.”
Explaining the move, he said:
“I’m just not who I am before. I’m something different. Some new name is Love aka Brother Love. I will not be answering to Puffy, Diddy, Puff Daddy or any of my other monikers but Love or Brother Love.”
Brother Love — we are really going to be calling him that — explained why he’s had so many names in a recent interview with CNN. He stated:
“I’ve had different name changes because I only just grew up in a neighbourhood where everybody had nicknames.
My first nickname was Puffy, and then when I was in the music industry it went to Diddy, and then P. Diddy, or was it P. Diddy first? Then Diddy?”
The American rapper, businessman and author said in 2013 that he felt the need to revert to his original name Puff Daddy because it inspired his drive. He even claimed that Puff Daddy is “a superhero” in Hollywood.
“Puff Daddy is an old name so technically it’s not a new name.”
He also spoke to TV host Ellen Degeneres about his moniker switch:
“Yes. It’s not technically a name change. It’s just I’m channelling one of my previous alter egos.”
