 Ogun Begins Construction Of 171 Rural, 25 Semi-Urban Roads

The Ogun State Government has indicated that it will commence the construction of 171 Rural and 25 Semi-Urban roads across the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

The 171 “Ogun Standard” rural roads to be constructed include 60 in Ogun Central, 66 in Ogun East while 45 will be constructed in Ogun West Senatorial Districts just as 25 semi-urban roads cutting across the State will be undertaken as well.

According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Mr. Wale Ogunyomade through his Media Aide, Mrs. Mistura Oshileye, said all the projects would be completed within six months.

The statement also indicated that the State and Local Governments as well as Local Council Development Areas have secured necessary approval to execute the projects as part of their statutory mandate.

The State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Onanuga who also oversees the affairs of the Ministry of Rural Development, had earlier said that the construction of rural roads would promote socio – economic development of the rural communities and reduce rural –urban migration.

She further maintained that the development would promote agricultural activities in the rural communities thereby improving the standard of living of the people, adding that the semi-urban roads will provide access road where there was need for parallel roads to ease traffic.
