Adeleke Successor: Osun APC Sets Up Committee
To fast track the process for the emergence of an All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate to fill the vacant post of senator representing Osun West Senatorial district of Osun State, the state chapter of APC has set up a 12-man committee.
It would be recalled that the senator representing Osun West Senatorial district of Osun state, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke died recently.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had written existing political parties in the state to present their candidates for the vacant seat to enable it conduct election within 90 days as stipulated in the electoral law.
Consequently, the chairman of the party in the state Prince Adegboyega Famodun at a meeting with stakeholders said the party cannot do anything without consulting leaders from Osun West based on agreement, advice and modalities to use in selecting a replacement.
It was gathered that not less than 85 percent of people present at the meeting supported that the candidate should be picked from Ede, where Adeleke emerged while very few had contrary opinion by saying it should be thrown open to all the ten local government areas involved.
At the end of the meeting, it was resolved that all Chairmen of the Elders Forum from Osun West, headed by the Osun West Senatorial Chairman Alh Yinusa Amobi and a party representative, Alh Rasak Salinsile will be members of committee which have only 30 days to submit their report on where and how to select a credible candidate that will win the by-election for APC.
Famoodun directed the 12-man committee to consult widely before submitting their report adding that any member among the elders forum that is interested in contesting should not be part of the committee.
Members of the committee are: Alh Yinusa Amobi, – Osun West Senatorial Chairman Alhaji Rasak Salinsile – Party Representative Alhaji Sule Alao – Ede North , R. A Ajiboye – Ede South Ajao Gbadebo- Egbedore Jayeola Boyede- Ejigbo , Opakanmi Johnson- Ayedire Olarenwaju Moruf- Isokan, Asiwaju Barrister Adedeji – Iwo Alhaji Ayoade Ariyo – Irewole , Ademola Jekayinfa- Ayedaade Musiliu Opakunle- Olaoluwa.
