Our Guber Aspirants Not Up To 38-Ekiti APC
The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti state has said that only few governorship aspirants have declared their intention to contest the 2018 governorship election on the platform of the party.
This, according to the Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Jide Awe was against the insinuations in some quarters that over thirty-eight aspirants were in the race for Ekiti APC guber ticket.
He made the disclosure in Ado Ekiti, the state capital yesterday, while receiving a governorship aspirant, Dr Makanjuola Owolabi, who was at the party state secretariat to declare his intent to run for the polls.
Awe who was represented by the state Deputy Chairman of the party,Chief Mrs Kemisola Olaleye said “contrary to the speculations that over 38 contestants have come out in APC,Chief Owolabi is the fifth contestants so far”
Olaleye said the leadership of the party in the state was aware that some aspirants are going about selling their ambitions to the people while they are yet to notify the party secretariat on their intents.
Dr Owolabi who hailed from Aisegba Ekiti, in Gbonyin local government area of the state, vowed to ‘restore Ekiti dignity’,if elected as the state governor in the f2018 governorship election.
The Aviation Consultant and the facilitator of Aerospace Medicine in Africa declared his governorship intent in the presence of Mrs Olaleye, APC state Publicity Secretary,Taiwo Olatunbosun,the APC chairmen of all the senatorial districts in the state, APC State woman leader Mrs Dupe Bakare, his wife ,Chief Edna Owolabi, representatives monarch of Aisegba Ekiti and the party representatives of all the 16 local government areas of the state.
He premised his decision to rule the state on the saying of the philosopher Plato who said “when good people refuses to participate in politics,they end up being governed by the inferior”
While promising to come up with a unique transformation plan to redeem the state, he said the vision brought about the slogan ‘Ekiti Restoration Agenda ‘ (ERA).
Owolabi further explained that Redemption in Ekiti would take place in 7 different phases-“Mentality of honour, Self worth of Ekiti,Collective sense of responsibility,Fertile land,Sense of Dignity,Leadership Endowment and Fear of God/ Family Value.
He equally identified Transactional- commercialized politics,Bastardized Yoruba Culture ,Thuggery and Laziness as obstacles that must be rid the state of for it to attain greater heights.
The Aspirant therefore charged the APC leadership in the state to eschew on Impartiality and create a level playing field for all in the selection of the gubernatorial candidate.
While describing All Progressive Congress as the root of democracy and Dr Owolabi as one of the best materials among the aspirants so far Chief Olaleye advised the aspirant to fulfill his campaign promises when he gets to the position with the promise that party leaders will be neutral in their conducts to all the aspirants.
