Omatek To Get New Managing Director
Omatek Computers Plc would be getting a new managing director following the sudden death of the founder/CEO of the company.
The death of the founder of the company, Mrs. Florence Seriki after a brief illness comes as a great loss to the information and communications technology (ICT) sector and the business community at large.
Whilst the ICT sector and investing community mourns this loss, shareholders of the company are already mulling who takes over her position as the CEO of the company. Seriki had been CEO since inception.
Omatek’s board, is expected to hold an emergency meeting to appoint an acting managing director, pending approval by regulators.
The stock is presently trading at the minimum share price of 50 kobo and has missed several regulatory filings.
The financial statements for 2014, showed that Seriki as the single largest shareholder of the company, with a 52 per cent stake.
Omatek computers started out operations in 1988 as a training outfit for blue chip companies like Shell and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), then became a distributor of prominent technology brands such as Dell and Acer.
The company soon progressed to assembly of computers within the country, as well as having subsidiaries in Ghana.
