Ondo 2016: APC commends Abraham for loyalty, steadfastness

The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has commended one of the aspirants in its September 3 governorship primary, Olusegun Abraham, for his loyalty to the party.
The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Abayomi Adesanya, gave the commendation in a chat with newsmen in Akure on Tuesday.
Abraham came second in the primary with 635 votes, losing to Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), who had 669 votes to emerge as the party’s candidate for the November 26 governorship election in the state.
Adesanya said: “Abraham is one of the pillars of our party, not only in Ondo State chapter, but also at the national level, and has contributed immensely to its growth and development, and to the progressive family.
“No member of the party can and should undermine the values and importance of his contributions to the party dated back to the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria.”
He appreciated the support of Abraham towards the party’s development in the state, noting that irrespective of issues that arose from the primary, “it is still a family affair”.
Adesanya appealed to Abraham to work assiduously for the victory of the party in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Adesanya also said: “The victory of the party is a victory for all and all hands must be on deck toward achieving this.”
It will be recalled that the outcome of the primary election had divided the leadership of the party after the National Working Committee upheld Akeredolu’s victory.
The NWC was not swayed by a report of an Appeal Committee which had earlier recommended the cancellation of the primary election over alleged irregularities.
The discord generated in the party after the NWC action reached a head when a National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, called for the resignation of the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, for upholding Akeredolu’s candidacy.
Also, one of the other aspirants in the primary, Chief Olusola Oke, after losing in the primary, defected to the Alliance for Democracy to try to actualise his ambition to become the next governor of the state.
