The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has thrown the gate open for football fans for the the 2016 Federation Cup grand finale on Sunday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The covered seats are, however, reserved.
The grand finale that will see Rivers Angels Football Club play against Bayelsa Queens FC in the women’s final in the first match of the day starting from 1pm, while FC IfeanyiUbah will slug it out with Nasarawa United for the only remaining Continental ticket.
The match promises to be highly explosive and interesting given the pedigree of both sides who play in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Speaking on the preparation for the finals, the Vice Chairman of the Lagos State FA, Tade Azeez, who is also a member of the Local Organising Committee, disclosed that the committee was working round the clock to deliver one of the best Federation Cup finals in recent times.
Azeez stated that plans has been concluded for a hitch free grand finale, adding that adequate security is been planned for the day to make it a family affair.
“We are working to make the day a memorable day not only for football fans but to make it a family affair,” Azeez, who is also the President of the Nigeria Referees Association, submitted.
Meanwhile, the accreditation process for media houses wishing to cover the final has commenced, with the head of such media house requested to send the name of their reporter, cameraman or photographer to the Director of Media and Communications, Demola Olajire, before Thursday this week.
