72 Bags First Class, As ABUAD Holds 6th Convocation

The management of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) on Monday revealed that about 72 students will graduate with first class degrees as the university holds her sixth convocation ceremonies this week.

The institution explained that the students that made first class are among the 1, 042 graduates that will bag the institution’s degrees at the event slated for Sunday, October 21.

The institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Michael Ajisafe, stated this on Monday during a press conference detailing the various activities lined up for the 9th Founder’s Day and 6th Convocation ceremonies of the University.

The founder of the University, Chief Afe Babalola(SAN), according to Prof. Ajisafe has offered automatic jobs to the first class graduates  , being  the tradition of the university and part of the ways to boost their  morale and commitments in academic pursuit.

The university would also confer Doctor of Letters(LLD) honourary causa on the former Minister of Agriculture and President of the African Development Bank(AfDB) , Dr Akinwumi Adesina and the Chief Executive Officer of Channels Television, Mr. John Momoh , having excelled in character and the useful application of intellect and academic excellence.

The VC said the University was able to churn out such huge number of first class graduates due to excellent, rigorous and qualitative academic prowess already attained by institution.

He said to underscore how serious the management was in terms award of degrees, the university has put in place stringent measures that would automatically eject lazy  and unruly students out of the system.

Ajisafe added: “We have disciplined students here and it has always been the culture of the founder, Aare Afe Babalola to give automatic jobs to first class students and these 72 will benefit from the gesture.’’
