5 Killed, Seven Injured In Ogun Multiple Accidents
No fewer five persons were confirmed dead, while seven others were critically injured in two separate accidents which occurred Tuesday along two federal highways in Ogun state corridor.
The first crash, wherein four persons lost their lives, happened along the ever-busy Sango-Ota/Idiroko border road, while the second crash occurred along the Sagamu – Benin expressway, killing one person.
The Sango-Ota/Idiroko border road crash occurred at Oke -Odan town around 8: 45.a.m, involving an 18-seater passenger bus with registration number (LAGOS) KSF 01 XC which had a head-on collision with a Cabsta truck marked (LAGOS) LSD 491 XQ.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ogun state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement corp (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi who confirmed the accident, explained that the driver of the passengers’ bus made a wrong overtaking at a sharp bend which resulted in the head-on collision with the Cabsta truck.
“Corpses of all the dead four persons, including the driver of the bus have been deposited at the Idiroko and Ilaro General hospital, while the five others, critically injured were also deposited at the Idiroko Border General Hospital for treatments,”
Commenting on the Sagamu-Benin-Ore accident, the TRACE P.R.O. said the crash involved a Honda Civic car marked: (ENUGU) CW23 ENU, suspected to be travelling from Ijebu-Ode to the Eastern part of Nigeria and a hit-and-run cement trailer truck.
Akinbiyi said eye witnesses account had it that the truck, marked “Dangote”, rammed over the Honda Civic with three occupants at Olorunpodo village, along the expressway around 9: 30 yesterday morning.
While the corpse in the crash was deposited at the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital morgue, the TRACE spokesperson also said that the two injured were rushed to a nearby hospital at the J-4 village along the expressway.
