5 Delegates To Summit Die In Ondo Auto Crash

At least five delegates to the Second National Council Meeting on Niger Delta holding in Igbokoda, in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State have been confirmed dead in a fatal accident that occurred on Tuesday along Ode-Aye/ Okitipupa road of the state.

The accident which occurred very close to Agric Industry in the area involved three vehicles which were on their way to Igbokoda, the venue of the interactive session with the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

The delegates, whose identities have not yet been ascertained, were said to have been involved in the accident which occurred as a result of over speeding by the drivers of the vehicle.

It was learnt that those that were severely injured

among them have been rushed to the State Specialist Hospital in Okitipupa.

According to the source, “the accident occurred this morning along Ode-Aye before Okitipupa and five persons has been confirmed dead and others in critical conditions.

“The speed of the vehicle conveying those people was just too much and maybe it was because of the visit of the Vice President. Very sad.”

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph however said only one life was lost in the accident.

Joseph further noted that the fatal accident involved three vehicles, adding that those that sustained injuries have been taken to the hospital for proper treatment.
