2 Killed In Ondo Cult Clash

At least two persons were killed during a clash between two rival cult groups in Ondo town on Wednesday.
The deceased whose names were given as Oluwole Samson and Wale Ajayi were said, to have been shot dead in Sabo and Orisunmibare streets, during the cult clash in the community.
It was learnt that one of the victims, whose name was given as Oluwole Samson, a strong member of ‘Eiye Confraternity’ had gone out to a beer parlour located at Ayeyemi street in the town to enjoy himself with his friends, when an argument ensued between them and another rival cult group.
According to a source, Samson was trailed to Orisunmibare area of the town, where he was shot dead at close range by the rival cult group .
Also, Wale Ajayi, who was said to be a strong member of ‘Afe Confraternity’  and a revenue collector, was shot dead by another group at about 6:30am on Wednesday, after he resumed for his daily operation in the area.
The incident caused pandemonium in the area as traders and shop owners in the areas hurriedly closed their shops for fear of attack.

The situation was however brought under control following the timely redeployment of police officers as well as men of the Department of State Security (DSS) to the areas.

Confirming the incident,  Mr Xpress Omoigui, a Superintendent of Police (SP) and Olu-Ojo Ogunmoyole, who are Divisional Police Officers of Enuowa and Funbi-Fagun divisional police stations respectively, said about three persons has been invited over the incidents and they were still helping the police to unravel the culprits.

The DPO’s said, the reports concerning the two incidents has been forwarded to the appropriate quarters at the Ondo State police command headquarters in Akure for further investigation.
