2 Die, 3 Injured In Ekiti Auto Crash

At least two persons were Wednesday killed in an auto crash which occurred at Ajebamidele junction, along Ikere Road in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
It was learnt that a red Mazda car, marked TY 333 AAA, which was carrying five persons including the driver from nearby Ikere-Ekiti rammed into a stationary Mercedes Benz truck with registration AAA 242 XA, parked by the roadside.

The driver of the car was said to be on top speed, before hitting the truck, leading to the death of the two passengers while the other three occupants were said to be in critical condition.
Men of the Nigeria Police and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were immediately deployed to the scene to join other people to rescue victims from the mangled car.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Alberto Adeyemi said two of the victims died on the spot while three others who are on danger list have been moved to the  Emergency Ward of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH).

Public Education Officer of FRSC, Ekiti Sector Command, Mohammed Olowo, blamed the accident on over speeding by the driver of the Mazda car.

Olowo said: “Over speeding on the part of the driver of the Mazda car caused the accident. Five people were involved and the victims were taken to the hospital.”
