14 Rescued, Many Trapped As Four Storey Building Collapses In Lagos
At least fourteen people have been rescued in a four-storey building that collapsed at No 3 Massey Street Lagos Island, Lagos Island, Lagos, trapping many people in the debris.
It was gathered that the building, owned by Kafo Family, which was reportedly managed by Isola Costa, collapsed around 3.00pm.
Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe said rescue operation was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
A resident of the street said that the structure was initially a three-storey building before another one storey was added to make it a four Storey building.
Fourteen victims rescued alive during recovery operation by Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Unit, NEMA, LASAMBUS, Lagos State Fire Service, Civil Defence, Red Cross and the Police were taken to the hospital.
As of the time of filing this report, heavy duty equipment was being used to search through the rubble to rescue trapped people.
General Manager, LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, confirmed that,” It is a four storey building that collapsed. Rescue operation is still on-going.”
