10 Passengers Cheat Death, As Train Derails In Lagos
Ten passengers on Thursday escaped death by the whiskers and  sustained varying degrees of injuries at Ashade Market in Lagos when an Ijoko to Iddo bound Mass Transit Train derailed after departing Agege railway station.
According to eye witness account the train was on motion when the Guard Van and Power Car derailed leaving passengers with head and body injuries.

It was gathered that the Driver of the train stopped briefly to assess the extent of the accident but later sped off with the two derailed coaches left behind.
The derailment according to a passenger Mr. Adelaja Abiodun happened at about 8.00am after departing Agege railway station adding that as soon as the train got to Ashade market there was a loud sound that left passengers scampering for safety.
He stated further that the passengers that sustained injuries were later rushed to Federal Medical Centre Ebute-Metta for treatment.
However the derailment affected train service as the Kajola to Apapa train terminated its journey at Agege as passengers had no option than to disembark and look for commercial vehicles to take them to their various destination.
Meanwhile the Lagos District of the Corporation moved swiftly and removed the two derailed coaches even as normal train service has since  resumed .
